I was recently diagnosed with distal clavicular osteolysis last week, and it's from an injury i sustained over the summer when i separated my AC ligament. I train in mixed martial arts, so my shoulder is very important to me and the pain has begun to hinder my training. The doctor told me that i could do a resection of the distal clavicle, but i can wait for a while to get it done. He said it was ok to continue training and that I should get the surgery when the pain is unbearable.

I went and trained that night (tuesday) after he told me I could, and after training my shoulder swelled and it almost felt like the bone had grown. Almost as if it has calcified or something. It's been a couple of days now and the swelling has gone down, but it still feels like new bone has formed or something. Now my questions may sound dumb, but I just want to make sure I'm not making things worse for myself.

1. Is it possible for my bone to keep calcifying? Will it get bigger and worse, or is it just inflammation?

2. If the bone is getting worse, does that mean they will have to cut more off the worse it gets?

3. Should I get the surgery sooner than later and will I most likely be able to continue to train post operation?

Please let me know what I should do, I want to be smart about my condition so I can continue to learn, train, and compete. Thank you very much, sorry for the long message, I look forward to reading some responses.
