Discoid Lupus and T1DM

Hello All! I am a 30 year old female who was diagnosed with discoid lupus 2 years ago. I am also a type 1 diabetic for the past 21 years. After about 6 months of labs, skin biopsies, and different topical ointments the dermatologist I was seeing found the discoid lupus in a skin biopsy off of my back. I had started developing a rash on my face that was itchy on my forhead, scalp, and ears. The rash then started to move down onto my chest, arms and back. I was sent to a rheumotologist due to the fact of my DM so the two could be managed more closely. It is possible the lupus flared up due to my pregnancy and some severe stress my family was under for some time. Anyways It has been two long years and the rash is still here and so is the itching. My ANA continues to be negative and I have no joint swelling or pain. I live in the Georgia and in the summer becomes extremely hot and humid which does not cooperate with my skin. For the past year and a half I have been off and on Plaquenil and methotrexate. Due to my DM I cannot take any steriods which makes it hard to find a solution to my symptoms. I have been doing sooo much research on trying to find anyone else out there who has these two diseases, but have not been sucssesful. We have just started a ned med called Dapsone and I am hoping and praying this shows some positive results. If anyone has any feed back or knows anyone with these diseases I would love to chat!
