Hi there.... I'm a newbie to the forum, but I stumbled across it in some mad google searching and thought this would be worth the shot.

Anyways, I just started my first pack of Alesse-21 last month (october 19th), the sunday before my period (which would have come on tuesday), and had EXTREMELY protected sex 3 times during my first full weekend on the pill (I'm talking taking the BCP religiously, using condoms and spermicide). My long time (well... year=long time to a teenager, okay?) boyfriend and I feel that we're taking all the necessary precautions and then some to make sure there's no babies being made here.

However, that just doesn't stop me from being a little worried right now.. :S

I just finished my pack of pills this past saturday, so sunday would be the first night I didn't take a pill. On monday morning I noticed a very little bit of dark brown discharge after going to my first morning class, and this morning was the same, however I'm not sure if it's bleeding or just gross discharge. :S I'm getting a little nervous that my period hasn't started, however I don't think that I'm showing any signs of pregnancy at all. No breast discomfort, no nausea, no weight gain...... Again, doesn't keep me from being nervous.

Has anyone else had this kind of thing happen when being on Alesse or any BCP? Just wondering when I should really expect my period or if this is it.. or if I should look into getting some prego tests.

Any help would be great! Thanks <3

I've never used BC, but
I've never used BC, but use condoms often. I have never had a problem with condoms.

I think that because you have so many hormones in your body from the BC, your period might have changed. Next month it might improve. I would suggest going to the Alesse website and researching it. It might say that your period might be significantly lighter or heavier.

A couple or three months ago I had just the slightest amount of brown discharge. It turned out to be my period, and I've never been on BC. Sometimes our bodies do weird things.

If you are worried about it, I would suggest using EPT or First Response in a couple of days.

It sounds weird, but sometimes I don't eat enough fat during the month, and my period is delayed. When this happens I eat a lot of fat; Taco Bell, Wendy's, etc. I guarantee that my period starts in no more than 3 days after that. Have you cut down on fat at all? This probably isn't the best thing to do to yourself, but it works for me.

Good luck! In my experience, condoms are effective, but not foolproof. I have never had a problem with condoms.

It's best to wait AT LEAST a month after you begin a course of birth control pills to begin to have unprotected sex. Abnormal discharge is normal during the first three (3) months after beginning oral contraception, as is irregular vaginal bleeding and late menstrual period (you're not actually ovulating, but you do menstruate on BCPs). You might want to buy and take a pregnancy test just to be sure to exclude the possibility that the late period is caused by pregnancy.
