For the past month and a half I have been having the following symptoms: queasiness/nausea and chills after eating, constipation alternating with diarrhea, tight upper abdomen, hemorrhoids, feeling of not emptying out when defecating. For a while I thought I had some kind of food poisoning but since it has gone on so for long I have given up on that. It also seems to almost disapper after dieting (BRAT diet) for a few days but then returns. I am now eating prunes for constipation and that seems to help. I have been to my generalist twice. First time she recommended the brat diet thinking it might be gastroenteritis or food poisoning. The second time I thought I had improved - she sent me to get stool test and routine bloodwork which I have to do now - but after that appointment all the symtoms have returned. Of course, I am afraid of the worst, colon cancer. Should I go on with tests or have her refer me to a gastroenterologist at this point?

Extremely eHealthy
This could be the most frequent gastrointestinal complain, a irritable bowel syndrome (alternating forms of stool, and the sense of not completing the bowel movement, are very characteristic for this syndrome; nausea is not common for this syndrome, but, you may have other intestinal problems, like acid reflux, or gastritis, at the same time).
Because, its symptoms aren't specific you may still want to get check for colon cancer.

Best wishes!
