I have read several papers on Internet regarding Digestive Ascites and Hepatic Cirrhosis seems to be present with this illness always. But I have a relative suffering of this accumulation of fluids in the abdomen with no Hepatic Cirrhosis. Do you have any information on what could be the reason for it?

Causes of ascites can be the following:
1. Cirrhosis - 81% (alcoholic in 65%, viral in 10%, cryptogenic in 6%);
2. Heart failure - 3%;
3. Budd-Chiari syndrome or veno-occlusive disease;
4. Constrictive pericarditis;
5. Kwashiorkor (protein malnutrition);
6. Peritoneal or liver cancer (primary and metastasis) - 10%;
7. Peritoneal tuberculosis - 2%
8. Pancreatitis - 1%
9. Peritoneal serositis
10. Nephrotic syndrome (a type of kidney disorder);
11. Hereditary angioedema.
Have you ever been checked for any of these disorders?
