Basically the difference is in the
severity of the mood swings. BP1 typically
has more severe symptoms. BP II generally
has less severe mood swings or less
frequent. This does not diminish the
disorder for either one or two. Bipolar
disorder if a full spectrum disorder
meaning that it runs from extremely severe
to very mild symptoms. I will find you
some websites that give information on the
disorder. www.NAMI.org is one
site that offers some good information and
resources. I'll get back to you with more
info. Glad you are here and seeking
information. Knowledge is power so by all
means empower yourself so you can find
peace and stability.

I am just wondering how you are with
dealing with having bipolar. I know that
I don't think about it much and have not
told many people. Really only family
knows. That is probably why I go onto
this ehealth stuff.

Bipolar 1 and 2 diagnosis Posted: 04-25-08 15:01pm
Hi there,
How long have you been diagnosed with BP
2? Are you currently on any medications?
Did you get a 2nd opinion on your
diagnosis?
These are important questions as
percription medications have been known to
enduce symptoms of bipolar 2. Dr's do not
know the side effects to all medicines,
and they are very quick to diagnos people
with BP2, often during 1 office visit and
perscribe strong medicines after the first
consulation. If there is even one shred of
a doubt that you may not be bipolar 2, you
may have post dramatic stress, or just
plain anxiety that can be managed through
talk therapy or a mild anti anxiety (to
take as needed), or are on meds that could
be enducing symptoms of the disorder, then
you should definately get a second
opinion, as an BP2 meds that are percribed
will worsen your condition.
I wish you well

Is she running a Lithium level on you.
Usually, doctors are pretty much right on
the money due to Bipolar symtoms being so
promient in a person. Symtoms have a trait
of thier own (so to speak).
