Please help me! I am sexually active, I usually take BC pills, but recently I have been on a very strict diet for the past 5 weeks, I haven't been eating more than 500 calories a day. I stopped taking my birthcontroll because they make you gain weight and i thought that a baby probably wouldnt be able to grow in a body with such little nutrients because I've been eatiing so little. But I missed my period this month, I am wondering if it is possible that I'm pregnant, and if so, has it damaged the baby since I havent been eating? Please HELP ME, I'm driving myself crazy!

YES it is very possible you could be pregnant if you have been having unprotected sex..first and foremost..your body CANNOT survive off of 500 calories a day..it cant...also..those 500 calories you ARE eating are being taken in and stored directly as FAT bc your body is STARVING...you NEED to eat a HEALTHY and BALANCED diet in order to loose weight and MAINTAIN that weightloss..you need to be eating 1200 calories a day minimum..especially if you are excercising...second..birth control has many different effects on women...not all women experience weight gain as a side effect..i've been on it for a year now and have seen no weight gain due to the pill....lasly...to come off of your pill just bc you're afraid of getting fat...and to remain sexually active with NO protection is extremely irresponsible...you dont wanna be fat right? Think of how big you're gonna get if you DO end up pregnant?! You said you missed your period...you need to take a test asap to find out if you are or are not pregnant..if you remain sexually active and dont want to be on the pill please at least use condoms..bc you will end up pregnant sooner or later....and start eating better!

thank you
thank you for your concern, I have had alot of trouble losing weight in the past, I have severe asthma so it is hard for me to find excersizes that I can do, I have been on diets before and i ate 1000-1500 calories a day and did not see any result, I have seen much result with this 500 calorie diet, I know it is not the healthiest thing to do but i have been taking vitamins and drinking lots of water, I would have used a condom but I thought it would be impossible for a baby to grow with no nutrients, because i know pregnant women have to "eat for two" and i havent really even been eating for one, I know it was irresponsible, and i feel so stupid now, if I AM pregnant though, me and my partener will be happy despite the hardships we will have to face and the unexpectancy, I am curious though, when can i test? is it too soon? i was supposed to get my period 12 days ago, and if i AM pregnant have i already done damage to the baby from not eating???

no no no no...the whole eating for two thing is only a myth...you can test now since you said you were due for your period and haven't gotten it yet...you definitely need to be eating much more healthy for the baby...also if you find it hard to do aerobic excercises due to asthma try doing pilates which will help you tone up...you will do damage to your body if you continue to eat 500 calories a day..also the minute you decide you have lost enough weight and go back to a "normal" diet you will put on weight..i always say the faster it comes off the faster it can be put back on...you definitely need to be eating more healthy for the baby as well...a healthy pregnancy means you will gain about 25lbs....definitely test asap...and go to the doctor so he can help you with what kind of food you need to be eating...your diet definitely can effect the baby

ok, i will go get a test tomorrow, do I need to get one of those early tests? or just a normal one, I hate that isle, theres so many different ones to choose from. Also i havent received an answer to ne of my questions yet, if i AM pregnant have i already damaged my baby from not eating? and I havent had any symptoms or anything, I feel perfectly normal, is it too soon to notice anything?

you can just get a normal test bc you said your period should have come 12 days ago...I cant tell you if damage is done YET to the baby...it also depends on how far along you are, though I would think its early yet for any real damage to be done so just visit the doctor and they will let you know the foods you should be eating for a healthy pregnancy if you're pregnant...symptoms of pregnancy wont start until later and you definitely wouldn't be able to visibly see you were pregnant yet...
