Hello,
Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am really glad to help you out.
Calcification of the thyroid gland should be evaluated further as it can be due to a malignant condition of the thyroid or due to parathyroid causes like the over activity of the parathyroid glands. Parathyroid glands are small endocrine glands which produce parathyroid hormone (PTH) and are located behind the thyroid gland.
Hyperactivity of the parathyroid is usually caused due to adenoma (benign epithelial growth), hyperplasia (abnormal increase in number of cells), and in rare cases, carcinoma.
I suggest you to consult an endocrinologist and get it checked in details.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
