Hi, I'm really hoping someone can answer this for me. I've asked pharmacists, a nurse and scanned forums but no-one has ever given me a definite 100% answer. I forgot to ask my doctor during my last consultation and as it's the weekend I wont be able to contact him. Should you use a back up method if you have diarrhea during your pill free week? I'm on microlite. I take my pill like clockwork. I finished my pack last Friday to start the 7 day break. I got my period on Monday. On Wednesday I decided to cook for myself (never a good idea) and the outcome was diarrhea. I'm also just finishing up my undergrad so have been a bit stressed! The diarrhea lasted until last night (Thursday). I'm starting my next pill pack tomorrow. I'll also be seeing my boyfriend so i'm wondering if I should also be using a back up method/keeping my legs crossed etc. I understand that diarrhea is a problem during your pill taking days in case it wasn't absorbed but i'm wondering if there are still hormones that could be flushed out thus reducing effectiveness. Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks very much!

Diarhea does not affect the pill.
