Q: Diagnosis of genital sores
asked by: DoctorQuestion on February 18th, 2009
Less than two weeks ago I started having unprotected oral/vaginal/anal sex with my girlfriend. We used a non-toxic flavored lube, which is something I've never used before. I have been developing sores around the base of my penis between the shaft and scrotum. (I have 6 now - they are very tiny-about the diameter of the ink refill in a standard Bic ballpoint pen). They are in no way painful. They aren't blisters or anything like that, just a small round area where it looks as if the skin has been rubbed raw. I'm getting somewhat concerned because we haven't had sex the past couple days but I have still been getting more of these sores. Is it possible that I could have gotten an STD and for the symptoms to be evident this quickly? When I noticed the first sore it was a week and a day after the first time we had sex. I haven't been sexually active for 7 months until last week. Could that be the cause? Could it be some sort of reaction to the lube? Or is it definitely and STD?

Given the data you provided, you might want to visit a urologist for a physical exam and swab from the sores. When the doctor will see the sores, he might be able to recognize them. An allergic reaction to certain of the ingredients of the lubricant would have caused rush and itching instead of sores. Sexually transmitted disease can not be ruled out without the recommended diagnostic procedures.
