Q: Diagnosing skin lesions
asked by: DoctorQuestion on December 31st, 2008
Hi, about two or three days ago i noticed a quarter sized red bump on my forehead. It sort of looks like if you fall asleep with your forehead on something and it leaves a red mark. It hasn't gotten worse, but no better either. It itches sometimes. Sort of looks like a birthmark. Should i be concerned? i can't really afford to go to the doctor right now unless absolutely neccesary. Thanks

Unfortunately, it is impossible to diagnose your condition over the Internet (this is especially the case for skin rashes and other skin lesions).

The lesion that you describe could either be a benign inflammatory or allergic skin lesion, or it could be something more serious. Either way, you would be best served by seeing a dermatologist for a consultation.

Sincerely,
