Q: Diagnosing skin lesions over the internet
asked by: DoctorQuestion on January 11th, 2009
I have a bump near my butt crack, it ozzes out liquid, clear and sometimes alittle redish. It prevents me from sitting down without being in pain. Do you know what this is? I've had it for what felt like months. And the pain is so unbearable that I managed to cry out for help. Can you please give me some information on this.

It is, of course, impossible to offer a specific diagnosis for a patient over the Internet (have you had your physician evaluate this lesion?). There are a number of possibilities, however, including an inflamed pilonidal cyst, an inflamed hair follicle cyst, or a chronic abscess of the skin in this area. Best to have your doctor take a look!

Sincerely,
