Referring to the data you reported (mild fever, temporary rash with bumps, itching) your daughter might be experiencing miliaria, also known as heat rash or sweat rash. It usually appears when the sweat glands in the skin get clogged due to dead epithelial skin cells. The trapped sweat causes the itching and is visible as very small papules (bumps) which might turn into small blisters. The areas of the body which sweats most might be affected by the rash more often.
Once the rash occurs, the child should be taken to the doctor to rule out other possible causes for the rash. Prevention includes avoiding hot and humid air. A cool shower might also prevent the rash in people that are more likely to develop heat rash.
The viral infection that caused the fever might be another condition that is related to the rash only by increasing the body temperature, which in turn caused the rash.
You might want to visit your family doctor for a physical visual examination to confirm if the rash is really miliaria.
