Hi I've had a lump on my side/rear of my ribcage for a few years now, I suspect its a hernia because it came around the same time I was heavy into weightlifting. I am now trying to find out more information about it, so I can be more knowledgeable with the doctor.

The lump is about 2.5 inches in diameter, and maybe .5 inch in height, located on the rear of my ribcage, on the edge of my lower back. In location to my belly button, it is about 4 inches higher up. I have included a picture to help explain where it is located.

^ It is where the green dot is on the right side.

It hasn't bothered me for the last couple years, but now is tender to the touch.

My question is what kind of hernia is this?, as I have only been able to find hernia information on the front side of the body.
