Q: Diabetes possible ?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on March 15th, 2009
I have been having leg tingling and some arm tingling for about 1 month, Family Doc thought maybe it was a little bit of RLS but now I am urinating more often (having to get up 2-3 times during night) and often rubing my eyes. Today after I brushed my teeth, I licked my lips and I got a really salty taste? Could this be diabetes? I am pretty healthy otherwise, good BP and never really been sick?

Frequent urination during the night is one of the symptoms of diabetes. Neglected diabetes can also affect the nerves, sometimes starting with tingling sensations.
However, neural symptoms and frequent urination might also be caused by Multiple Sclerosis in the first stages. Given the fact that you have a family history of Multiple Sclerosis, you might want to do some neurological tests for MS and check the blood for elevated blood sugar.

Ok thanks for the advice, is there any other symptoms I should be looking for with MS? My tingling never hurts or they never completely fall asleep, it's more like just little tingles, could it be a pinched nerve? Last night I didn't get up once to go to the bathroom, so maybe thats not a symptom anymore? The rubbing of the eyes, I still do but now I am rubbing my nose, I have allergies and I think thats why I was doing those things? Would my BP be high as a symptom?
