hi. my mum is a diabetic and has been on lipitor (40mg) for 3 years and has been suffering from severe pains in her upper arm and muscles but the doctor won't send her for an mri scan only x-ray, the doctor had recommended physio for 2 years with no results in which she was sent for what was believed to be arthritis but her physio doesn't believe this is the problem. could this be a problem with mixed medication as she is on about 12 tablets a day plus insulin and the problems have only started since lipitor and the doctor doesn't want to change them, can you recommend a substitute for the lipitor? and could this be the problem?

i was on lipitor and had to go to the hospital because i had sever leg pain. it was hard for me to lift my leg up. if you go to the lipitor website it tells you the sever side efect is leg pain w/o reason and could cause liver damage.
so i stop taking it and now im taking something called omega 3 fatty acids and it is maintaining my high blood pressure and cholesterol levels. so i dont have to worry about the side effects.
my first suggest to you is go to lipitor website and look up the side effects, do this with all the medication your mother is on and they you may find the culprit.
