Hi all,

I'm conducting a little research into blood sugar levels and fatigue in both diabetic and non diabetic patients.

If you could spare a minute to answer a couple of questions it would be greatly appreciated! thumbsup

The first question will apply more to type 1 diabetics or those on medication/insulin.

1) Do you suffer fatigue after a hypo attack?

If yes, how long do you experience the fatigue for? (For example 1 hour, 1 day, 2 days)

2) Do you suffer fatigue when blood sugars are too high?

3) Do you suffer fatigue when blood sugars fluctuate?

4) Do you suffer persistant periods of fatigue for a week or more?

If yes, do you know what was/is causing it?

5) What type of diabetes are you diagnosed with?

Thank you!

Re: Diabetes And Fatigue
1) Do you suffer fatigue after a hypo attack? If yes, how long do you experience the fatigue for? (For example 1 hour, 1 day, 2 days)

Yes. It usually lasts for a couple (2-3) hours.

2) Do you suffer fatigue when blood sugars are too high?

No; instead, I suffer from sluggishness when my #'s are high.

3) Do you suffer fatigue when blood sugars fluctuate?

Yes. The bigger the jump, the more tired I get.

4) Do you suffer persistant periods of fatigue for a week or more? If yes, do you know what was/is causing it?

Not for over a week. It sometimes lasts up to 5-6 hours, but I try to take a nap as soon as possible to remedy the problem. Never longer than a day.

5) What type of diabetes are you diagnosed with?

Type 1

Good luck with your research!

Thank you!

Your answers are pretty much the same as my husbands. All good so far...

I'm getting particularly interested in blood sugar fluctuations. I've asked a few doctors now and they've given different answers as to whether or not the fluctuations cause symptoms such as fatigue. I would have thought they would.

So, docs have said there is no correlation between number fluctuations and fatigue? Seems odd.

Well I've spoken to my doctor. I asked if fluctuating blood sugar levels could cause fatigue, brain fog, etc. She said yes, DEFINITELY.

I guess I'll go with that!
