Hello Everyone,

This is my first post.

I want to tell you about my day-to-day activities, so you will understand what I'm going through.

I work 3rd Shift at a job I HATE with every bone in my body.

The hours are 12:00 am to 8:30 pm

I've been trying to become an entrepreneur for some years now.

That is all I think about, everyday I'm trying to develop my business, so I can work for myself.

I 'm saying this because I don't get much sleep.

I might get home around 9:30 am, be in bed by 10:30 am

Most of the time I sleep until 4:00 pm- There's 5 and half hours sleep.

Sometimes I wake up at 1 or 2, whenever- It seems to me most of my problem is when I trying to go to sleep I'm thinking about what I need to be doing in my business. I have some many things to do it's overwhelming.

Say I do sleep until 4:00 pm; I do what I have to do then might take a nap from 7:00 pm to 9:00pm. Nine times out of ten I end up tossing and turning because my backs hurts and once again I can't stop thinking who I need to call, what I need to read, what do I need to check out about my business.

I leave my house around 11:00 to go back to work for that night.

That is a typically week for me. I usually pass out all Friday night until Saturday Morning.

On the weekends I'm usually tired all day, take naps from time to time and sleep at night like regular people.

My doctor told me to take benadryl to help me go to sleep, and that's fine when I first go to sleep. 1. I don't want to be taking medicine every day if I don't have to. 2. I don't want to take it when I go back to sleep at 7:00pm to 9:00pm, because that's only 2 hours of sleep. I don't want the benedryl to put me to sleep to long.

Sometimes when I drink a bottle of beer that gets me sleepy. I drink about a six pack a month, so I'm not much of a drinker. I really don't want to drink every night to go to sleep either.

I'm hoping there is some other way to help me get through this until I'm able to quit this stupid so called job so I can sleep regular hours.

Can someone(s) please give me some advice on what to do, I'm sick of being tired all the time it's like I'm a walking zombie sometimes.

PLEASE HELP

Extremely eHealthy
Welcome to EHEALTH forum!
Working the third shift is especially ruinous to sleeping well.
The average third-shift worker, usually, loses a whole night's sleep over a week-long shift, so, a chronic sleep deprivation is eventually develop.
It's very important for you to keep the same schedule seven days a week, including weekends, following a rigorous schedule to make certain that you get the sleep you need.
Worry and stress about business is another thing that makes your sleep more difficult.
Acctually, this worry and stress, leads to an inability to fall asleep, triggering a new anxiety about not sleeping, so, the cycle of worry continues.
This is known as psychological insomnia.
Try to set aside a "worry time" like an hour before going to bed, to organize your thoughts, that way you'll escape worrying while laying in your bed and trying to fall asleep.

Also, avoid drinking coffee or consuming other stimulants at least for hours before going to bed.
It's a good idea to wear black glasses on a way home, cause will help promoting production of melatonin, hormone that normally is excrete when is night, preparing the body for sleep.

Best wishes!
Marija
