Current medical status: Wake up between 2-4am each morning with severe lower back pain and minor stomach pains. When slide over and/or turnover in bed often yell out because in so much pain. I have had c-section and appendectomy and the pain experienced after getting up from surgery feels like the pain that I have of the morning. It is severe. Pain continues until get up around 5:15am and eases off but still have a lot of discomfort and some minor pain all throughout the day. Often feel nauseated too but may be becuase of pain. This started in September but occurs more frequently and hurt more during the day now than it did.
Current medical treatment: Right now no prescribed medical treatment. Dr. has offered to prescribe pain medication but do not want it at this time. I have been taking Aleve, Ibuprofin, Advil, and or Tylenol but try to not take it too much.
You might want to apply heat on the spine when it hurts. If the pain decreases, then the back muscles might be releasing from the spasm. Spasms in back muscles might be related to skeletal or muscular issues of the spine.
An x-ray might not have been good enough to detect the possible spine problems. Spinal disc herniation is not easily visualized with an x-ray. That is why your doctor might be recommending better imaging techniques (CT scan or MRI, for example). If the condition is related to the spine, your doctor might refer you to a specialist for physical therapy, or an orthopedist, or a neurosurgeon.
