My 26 yr old daughter, mother of 23 mo old and 4 mos pregnant is serverely depressed, has history of depression. Currently is not sleeping, not bathing, not getting out of house, not eating correctly, nausea and voimiting secondary to pregnancy has not fully subsided, irritable, depending on others to care for baby. I have encouraged her to speak to her OB about her history of depression and that she had previously taken medication, zoloft and prozac. She refuses to tell the OB because she insists she will work it out and does not wish to take additional RX. I am really afraid to leave her alone with the baby in her present state, but I work 40-60 hours a week. Her husband is in Korea. Mother in law offers help but is very critical of situation and 'blames' my daughter for 'letting' herself get this way. What can I do?

take time off work and take her to her doctor. make sure she discusses this with her doctor (go with her) or call her doctor yourself and get advice.

you may have to threaten to look at the possibility of having her involuntarily committed unless she complies with getting some help on her own. just tell her that you're concerned about her safety and the safety of her children to the degree that you feel you have a responsibility to make sure that she gets help NOW!

good luck with this situation. i'm so sorry for you...i'm sure this is stressing you out. i'll pray for you and your family!!!
please keep us posted on your progress.
