Be patient. With me, the side effects lasted anywhere from one to two months.

I took something that made me feel like I was just in an other world. I would just start staring off into space and it made me tired and I was totally not alert, plus I felt aggravated to the extreme when anything annoyed me. I couldn't live like that with three kids, so I had to stop taking it. It's better to be just spaced out than not take it and be flying off the handle.

Like Marvel said, if you give it a little more time, it might get better. If it doesn't, your not the only one who has to try to find a different medication to suit you. Sometimes you just have to patient to find out which one is best. Make sure you talk to your doctor about all the effects you have, plus you might want to not do anything dangerous, like driving, if you are spacing out too much to concentrate.

Sam-e takes time to be fully efficacious. Give it some more time. As mominashoe said - if you do not feel better after about 4-6 weeks you may need to look into alternative treatment. There are other options. Let us know how you do.

I've never heard of Sam-E but I just looked it up.

It doesn't seem to be an antidepressant, and maybe you weren't prescribed an antidepressant because you're 16.

You're only 16 and i'd suggest trying to get your depression cured as soon as possible because if not, its only going to get worse.

Keep trying the Sam-E and see if it works out for you. I'd also suggest buying some 5-HTP supplements which you can get from any pharmacy. 5-HTP is a precursor to serotonin which is a chemical in your brain which helps regulate your mood, appetite, etc.
