Hi, so I have a friend who is a psychology major who thinks i may be depressed, I know I have a victim complex and other issues for various reasons. Is there any really concrete way to kind of....evaluate yourself to see if you may be depressed/bipolar/ manic depreesive etc?

I don't quite understand you post. Can you be more explicite with your symtoms? We need more information about your feelings and things that might trigger these feelings. Hard to help with what you have posted above. We are here to help. You just need to be more open.

well it's mainly a constant sudden change in mood. I get this feeling of being hopeless and I just break down. I've got some pretty traumatized history that adds to the way my emotion builds up and just explodes. I was molested by two different people, my mom died when i was 13, i grew up as the stereotypical "fat kid" and all that goes with it (constant teasing, bullying, not fitting in etc.) I have contemplated suicide before and almost commited suicide twice. I have what is called a "victim complex". I tend to act like everything is perfectly fine and dandy when it's not (very good at conceiling my emotions, part of being an actor) I constantly feel like everything i try is not good enough like i'll never go anywhere. I'm often lonely, even when i'm not a lone.I also tend to push people away when i start to care too much or i do the opposite and care too much to fast. I also have a fear of being left behind by the peopl i love. that's all i can really think of.....

Sounds almosst like you may be a passive aggressive. You may want to look into mood stablizers to help you through. Bipolar is a hit or miss situation as far as getting the right cocktail. But, once you are on them, you may feel much better and your inner anger will subside somewhat.

Yes, it sounds to me like you have depression. HOwever, only a psychologist can make that diagnosis. If you google "depression screening", you should find some tests you can take which will at least give you an idea. Also, if you're in school, you should be able to get screened at your health center on campus.

This is also a great resource: http://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/publication s/depression/complete-publication.shtml
