Q: Depression due to TBI not responding to treatment

I received a TBI in 1999 and have been fighting major depression for years,I see my psychiatrist and psycotherapist on a regular basis, I was told that I was not responding to treatment. Is brain injury depression that hard to treat and what should be my next step? I'm on quite a few medications which help abit but I still have depression, anxiety and nightmares. I am getting so discouraged, is there anything that can be done? Thank you, skeeter52

skeeter52,
I am a new user and really don't have an answer to your question. It sounds as if you are being proactive and that is good. I would guess the best answers to your question should come from your doctors. and they always say, if you do not feel that they are doing what needs to be done, find a doctor that will listen and that will do what ever is necessary to help you.
If you want to talk, I'll listen.
I wish you success. take care DL

DL, Thank you for your response. I started seeing a doctor who specializes in tramatic brain injuries, this may be a long process but what have I got to lose. I am suffering from horrible nightmares which make me dread night time. I've been told they stim from my post tramatic stress disorder. I sound like a mess but with the Lord with I am coping. Somedays I feel like giving up but I have a loving family to live for. but thanks again. Skeeter52
