Q: Depressed ?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on April 10th, 2009
I think I am depressed.

I am 18 years old. I have been feeling down for months now; with family and personal issues catching up on my after I had tried to blot them out of my head I feel it is all coming to do surface and I dont think I can handle it. I have so much pressure going on in my life due to exams, family and personal issues and I dont think I have the ability to cope. I have not talked to anyone about it because I dont feel anyone will understand.

Depression Answer A6313

Depression might be caused by various factors. Some of them include factors from the surrounding, such as: home, work, school. Good thing about this is that once the factors seize to exist, the depression might be gone, too. Sometimes the problems are so big, that you can not influence on them with solutions. In that case, creating defense mechanisms that would help you to live with the problems might be extremely helpful. A psychotherapist might help you a lot with this.
In the end, if there is no effect from the psychotherapy you might want to consult with psychiatrist if any detailed observation and eventually medications are needed.

You sound just like me
But school is not the leading cause of my problems. I'm the same age as you but have been in a miserable state since I was a child and unable to tell anybody about my problems, not even a doctor. The only person I can talk to my problems about is God and sometimes I wonder if he is even listening to me.

There are a lot of lonely people out there and I am just another face in the crowd. Never had a girlfriend, never even been with a girl. I can't even talk to girls. It's depressing. But that's just a sample of my issues.

Good luck with yours.

.....depressed?
I'm 18 and I believe I could be slipping into something really bad (depression) I thought maybe I was just sick. But i started researching and depression seems like a category I fall under.I don't have much of a family.I feel out of place in my own home. I don't think my family loves me. If they do they NEVER show it. I don't know. I feel as though I'm losing my mind. Please help me. Im too embarrassed to tell anyone>

once exams are over i m sure you will feel better.
it's not good to keep everything bottled up, you have to talk to someone.
i like to write in my journal about how i feel. when i have problems it's good to write them down as "problem" and a column for the "solution"
i hope my advice was helpful.

Hello

I am very worried about seroxat. I have been taking seroxat for 1 year and i tried to withdraw to it and when i reduce dose from 20mg to 10 it was a nightmare and i had to come to 20mg again. My question is: seroxat cure or you feel good only during the treatment?

thank you

annajanette,
i read about sexoat on the search engine about withdrawal issues, how people are going through a lot trying to come off of it.
you should research this on the search engine about the side effects, ad coming off of seroxat. maybe you can find ways to help you gradually get off this drug.

Good luck

Depression
I feel the same. I keep thinking I'm okay, that I'm not depressed anymore, but it feels like I'm drowning, that I'm being pulled down again. Everything is suffocating me - the family, the friends (or lack of), the exams, the future...I can't take it. I sometimes feel like lying in bed, numb and oblivious. I don't want to think about it. It's so stupid though, because I know that there are people with much worse things to deal with, but I still can't get it out of my system. I find it hard to connect with anyone; I'm so lonely. Anyone else know what I mean?

when you get that depressed, you have to do something about it.
it could be talking to close family, friends.
buying st.johns worth, or SamE to boost your serotonin levels.
the doctor here said you also have to make sure you cleanse your biles.
when it gotten that bad for me i seen a therapist, and ive taken prozac.
i would write in a journal about my feelings, and this helped a little.
i got to a support group for abused women which helps being around a lot of people who been through the same experience.
