Depressed and feeling no way out Posted: 03-26-08 13:12pm
I have been feeling depressed for over two
years now and still have not found any way
out. Although I can say I have not really
tryed to get help through medication or
counseling only because I do not have the
money to pay for counseling and I dont
have medical insurance at this point. I
want to say this all started with my
ex-girlfriend leaving me for her ex this
drove me crazy. After that I have been
make one bad choice after another. At
first I tryed to deal with everything my
way by talking to knew people I found it
hard and trying to talk to my old friends
was even harder. She would often hang out
with my old buddies that stop me from
talking to them. This made me feel alone
and secluded. I attempted suicide right
after and told my ex about it she called
the police I was held in a mental health
clinic. I was in denile at the time and
said to myself I dont belong here. After
being checked out I refused all the
medical attention they were offering at
the time which was one of my mistakes.
After this I kinda gave up on myself and
started doing drugs and alcohol which lead
my break up with daisy to get even worse
than what it was. I sometimes feel like I
can start again but the feeling is often
terse. Just recently I had swallowed about
10 asprin around 2200 mg now my stomach
has been in alot of pain for three days.

Are you still in school (high school or
college)? Schools often have free
counseling. I know my college has tons of
licensed psychologists and psychiatrists
working for free for any student who needs
them. Also, psychiatrists are given packs
and packs of free samples of medication.
If you went to one via school or some
other means and told them about your
insurance problem, they might be able to
help out. I have a friend who got six
months worth of anti depressants for free
via free samples because she had insurance
issues and her doctor knew she needed to
be on medication and that was the only way
to do it.
I'm sorry that you are going through so
much lately. It seems like you are having
a really hard time. The loss of a love is
always extremely hard to cope with. How
did you feel when you were in the mental
health clinic? You said they were
offering you medical attention and you
denied it. Is there any way you could go
back to the hospital and let them know
you've been feeling down again and ask if
there is anything they can do to help
out?
Drugs and alcohol, although they make you
feel better sometimes at the time, really
don't help in the long run. They are
depressants and make things worse. Is
there anyone you can talk to for support,
even if its an adult/parent or friend?
Talking things out will often help a lot.
Hang in there. I hope things start to
improve for you. I'm here to talk if you
ever need anyone.

I'm sorry you are feeling so down. I have
had some problems with depression as well.
I found out that it really helps to talk
to people about it. For me, its easier to
talk to people online, than face-to-face.
Life is worth living, you just need to
find out what you were born to do. It
helps to get out of the house. It will
seem hard at first, but it is worth it.
Find something you enjoy doing...like
exercising, join a sports team, volunteer,
etc. Volunteering my time helps me feel
better, like I am making a difference in
this world. If you ever want to talk, feel
free to PM me and I will listen and help
in any way that I can.
