I have recently been told by a girlfriend that she was pregnant. I was very surprised because about 4 weeks earlier she had had a depo shot. She has been on depo for 10 years with no ill effect or pregnancy before. Recently she has had a couple of female issues (not sure what) but she got two bad (abnormal) tests and then had to go to have an outpatient procedure preformed. We had sex 2 times about 3 days after her procedure and now she said that she is pregnant. If it possible that a female procedure could interfere with the depo birth control? I am naturally suspicious.
I do understand that the duration that she has taken depo does not matter. I also understand that depo is not 100% effective. I am not certain what type of procedure she had, only that she went to the gyno and had two "abnormal" results which made it necessary for an out patient procedure. First, what interferes with the effectiveness of depo? Second, is there a typical use for whatever interferes with depo in "standard" biopsy. She hinted at cancer, i assume cervical. I do not mean to be dismissive of the situation, but this relationship has been a repetitive cry wolf situation. I am trying to eliminate my doubt.
I'm unsure about all things involved that may affect the depo shot. Her doctor may have warned her of any possible interactions with medications, but its possible that she didn't. Did she get her shot on time?
If you don't fully trust your partner then why haven't you been protecting yourself?
I have been told she was "like clockwork" every three months getting her depo shot. Hindsight is always 20/20, looking at what i see right now i see a setup. I am not happy about feeling this way and that is why i am trying to figure out if there are drugs or procedures that negate the effectiveness of the depo shot.
