Crying or Very sad

Well let me start by saying im in shock and a mess!

I went to my doctor today for my yearly check up and to get on a form of birth control. He recommended the shot (depo) so I agreed to take it. I was sent to the lab to do the normal tests which included a pregnancy test.

2 hours later I cam back and was given the shot. About 1 hour after that I got a call asking me to come back to the office. When I came back the doctor told me I was pregnant and hes sorry but mistakes happend and that his nurse FORGOT to read the lab results.

I have a history of miscarriages and i recently lost a baby this Jan. All I was told was mrs. smith im sorry, mrs. smith i wish you the best. And how theres a small chance my baby might make it.

CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THERES A WAY TO UNDO THE SHOT, OR HOW IT WILL AFFECT MY PREGNANCY, JUST SOMETHING THAT MIGHT GIVE ME A PIECE OF MIND.

I got the Depo shot while pregnant also. I understand how you feel! It's scary! Unfortunately there's no way to reverse the shot. My Dr. told me the most common side affects of depo on a fetus are low birth weight/ premature birth. Also, there's been a few cases of deformed urethra in baby boys linked to depo (which is worrisome for me because I'm having a boy:(
In the long run, the chances of any of that happening are small. But the chances are still there.
If you ever need to talk to anyone, I'm here and in the same boat.

oh my gosh that is outrageous !!!! That just angers me !!! Im sorry that happened to you, but like the previous poster said there are chances but her baby is healthy. I will keep you in my prayers.

Have you talked to an attorney about your rights if your baby has problems? I would definatelty do some research to see what your rights are. After all it could be a result of mal=practice. They are supposed to confirm pregnancy before any birth control is given. Lots of law offices give free consults

I'm actually the head paralegal at a Medical Malpractice firm. I'm in CO., but for the most part the laws are the same everywhere. If you want to talk I'd be happy to answer some questions for you. I can't believe how outrageous that is, especially if you already have a history of misacariages. I'm really sorry to hear that and hope it all works out. I think at the very least you should file a grevieance against the Dr's office. Again if you want to talk or have any questions about the legal aspect please feel free to message me. Good Luck.

Depo Shot and Tegretol (for depression) -blood work/med history
Hello. You are in Co, just like me. I'm not sure if I will need help - I let this guy talk me into the Depo shot on the 14th of February (five days before my period was due). He said he gives it to women all the time with no problems. My period came on the 19th and I've been bleeding ever since. When I mentioned the bleeding he said that when he gave me the 2nd shot (in May) that the bleeding would probably stop. He also prescribed Tegretol for a very minor case of depression. When I told him that the most minor side effect sounded worse than my worst day; he assured me the Tegretol was safe. I finally agreed I would try ONE PILL (trying to be reasonable and at least try it). The info online about this pill is not encouraging. It can make the shot less effective.
I have seen the PA three times. The most recent visit someone started to ask about my medical history. I've not yet had a blood test of any kind. Aren't these things that should have been done BEFORE giving me shots and pills? I feel like an idiot for letting this happen - I went in asking for a diaphram and got laughed at - and convinced to take this shot. Am I just over reacting? I am not sure what damage could result - i'm hoping that at the end of the 3 months I stop bleeding, I've read the horror stories online and am very concerned.

WelL I thought i was the only one!
just last month i went to my obgyn for a well woman check up, and also asked to be put on some form of birth control. Since i was once on the depo shot i decided that was the best one for me! Well now this month i have been feeling very strange, i figured it could of also had been the depression medication she put me on> Well now here i am today i just got back from the clinic and i found out my symptoms are from my positive pregnancy test. Now the doctors nurse says the same thing the baby might not make it. Im found myself here trying to find out what my chances and rights are. even if the baby makes it what is the possibility he or she will be healthy? God bless you and keep in touch

Well the same thing has happened to me. I have not only been given 1 depo injection but I have been given 2 ( 1 in Jan. and 1 in April). Mt ob/gyn doctor was collecting urine but nor giving me a pregnancy test. I just found out that I was 17 weeks pregnant and I was given my 2 injections this year. I have contacted a lawyer because this is medical malpractice and if this has happened to anyone else, I strongly suggest you seek legal assistance. I have 2 children already and my husband and I weren't planning on anymore but I am pregnant with a boy and all my doctor had to say was that he was sorry and that it was his fault because a pregnancy test is suppose to be administered before any birth control is given because it is not 100% effective. I wish you all the best of luck and will include each of you in my prayers while praying for my baby to be born healthy.

Thanks

Im currently 22 weeks pregnant and I had the depo shot as well at the beginning of my pregnancy. My doctors as well didn't give me a blood test or urine test for pregnancy because I had just actually gotten off my 'friend'... But there doesn't seem to be much studies done on the effects of the depo. I as well asked my doctor, and other doctors, and the hospital and such..they all said the same to me that 'it's no different than a woman taking birth control pills during pregnancy and not realizing'..and at my ultrasounds the baby is apparently healthy and up to size and such..theres no concerns it seems Smile

MISCARRAGE because of Dr
Wow, so I am not the only woman in this boat?

I apparently was preggo before I had gotten the shot, BUT, I explained to the doctor that urine tests never work for me...NEVER! I mentioned my husband and I suspect I am pregnant again...of course, he says "you'll be fine" and gave me the shot. Like most, i trust my doctor because he has a degree in this, he knows what he's talking about.
My hubby and I have two children already, so if I had known I was prego, we would have had the baby for sure. I jsut had a miscarraige 2 days ago and apparently was 3 and a 1/2 months prego. I had the depo for almost three months now. Im devestated, angry...beyond what words can explain. I feel like if the doctor never neglected to take my advice about my own body, I would have my third child still living in my belly.
Instead, I am left depressed, picking up the shattered pieces of my heart. I understand God works in mysterious ways, but this is not God's doing! This should have been taken into consideration by the Dr...who says he can play God?!?!
I've tried taking it into legal action, but law firms around here seem intimidated by this case...HELP?!?!!?

Wow I stumbled onto this. I'm late but this time last year I was given TWO pregnancy tests as it is routine to be given them prior to the depo shot. The first pregnancy test was negative and when I came back for the second, I tested positive and they failed to read the results and just gave me the shot. I lost that baby. I have filed suit but they refuse to compensate saying that they didnt make a mistake and the shot did not cause the miscarriage. I am beyond upset and I empathize with all of you. Good to know that I am not alone.

Confused! (Baby bump)
I'm on the Depo shot only took it once and not due until June. Lately I been feeling a bit different and I woke up with a little bump infront of me. I took like 4 pregancy test over the course of 3 weeks all was negative. Just went to the doc to take a urine and blood test on yesterday. I think I am pregnant but not sure from the negative test that I have been taking. I wonder if its possible that the depo can affect the pregnancy test bc of the hormone situation. Me having a stomach is not adding up. Plus me and my husband have unprotected sex most of the time he cums in me so I'm not sure!! Confused and waiting on the results:-/

Will something be wrong
So I got my depo shot in march or April n I was suppose to go back on on June 30 to get another one but didnt have time.. For the past 2weeks I've been feeling kicking in my stomach all day every day and I have a 10mon old so I know the feeling of a baby kicking inside my stomach and for me to feel kicking that means I'm pretty far along and had to get pregnant before or right after I got the shot.. I go to the Doc on Monday and my mom just scared me saying that the Doc might ask me to terminate the baby because of birth defects from the depo shot.. So my question is if I'm really pregnant will something be wrong with my baby?

I just had another scare..My doctors office normally schedules my appts a day to a week late..But this time it was a little over a month late..I was horrified..they asked if i had had unprotected sex i said yes..Didn't ask how long ago.So i told them it had been about 3 days since the last time with my husband..Well they did the test it came back no,I got my shot,But now after my shot i have been having really bad pains where my gallbladder is.Well in that area, And last night I had really bad stomach pains and was feeling like i wanted to push..I have had miscarriages in the past and have a hormone problem to where it is hard to carry boys.I was wondering if any one else has had these symptoms and if i take a test will it show up since i have had my shot..

I have a feeling I am pregnant and I've been on the depo for about a month, due to get another one October 3rd. But I was on the pills before that and when I went into get my shot they didn't do a pregnancy test. I've Gained a little weight, I have to pee all the time even when I barely drink anything and its very painful to have sex in certain positions. Is it safe to take a pregnancy test while on depo? Would the hormones in it mess up the results? I'm very scared.. When I was on the pills the doctor said I was taking them wrong. That I wasn't supposed to take the inner green circle ones while on my period. So I'm very curious?
