hi i am 19 Years old and for th first time i am taking the depo shot. The night before my appointment me and my fiance had sex. So I went to my appt. the next day and I told my doctor. She gave me emergency contraceptive pills and told me it sometimes work and sometimes does not. So I took them and she gave me my depo shot. She said that I should get a period because I had not had my period for the month when I got the shot. Well here I am today and still no period. I have had mood swings, weight gain, stomach growing. Could i be pregnant or Is it just from the depo shot that I didnt get my period and the weight gain? Some one please help.

I'm with mcottles. I think the doctor had it wrong when she told you to expect a period. The depo shot, like other forms of hormonal birth control, can cause all the symptoms you listed. Besides, if you were pregnant, you would not be showing after only one month so something else has to be causing the weight gain and larger tummy

yeah i know how you feel. i have been on the depo for 5 years. i got off because i was having severe pains in my sides and stomach. i have been off of depo since jan. 09 and still have not had a period. i thought i was pregnate because i kept feeling something move inside of me and i went to the hospital and they told me that its just where i am fixing to start my period. but i have not yet started. i don't know what to do.
