Wondering if I will be denied or given a rating (pay 50% more for example) when I apply for health insurance if I have genital herpes? Does anybody know? Thanks!

I wouldn't think so. It isn't like a heart disease that is going to cost the insurance company millions of dollars. I am really uncertain. Do you have to have an entrance physical? Do they ask for all your previous health records? I have yet to have an insurance company that has asked for previous medical records, they just have asked if I have any serious illnesses.

I doubt it. Herpes whether oral/facial or genital, is a very common virus. It is not considered a serious illness. Also, it may depend on if you are on medication for it.

There are several variables here. It will depend on the carrier you apply with, the length of time since your last out-break, and what state you live in.

Based on the small amount of information given, you will likely have a rider or exclusion for herpes (assuming you live in a state that allows health policies to be ridered). Of course, different companies will treat this in different ways.

Give some more information and I can answer this question better for you.
