Okay so I have prom coming up shortly... and I will start my period the day before.. and I don't want that! I have been on Yaz birth control since December. I have read from previous posts that if you start a new pack immediately after you finish an old pack instead of taking the placebo pills then that delays it.. this works? And I will still be protected? And how long does it delay my period?

Thanks!!

It SOMETIMES work...

You may skip the placebo pills and end spotting or bleeding anyway, and it could last for 2 weeks, which is also a common occurrence.

You are still protected from pregnancy. Your period does not make your protected, your hormone pills do, so skipping a period and starting a new pack cannot affect your protection.

It CAN delay your period until you stop taking pills to have a period, or you can wait to the next months placebo pills.

If you plan ahead and start skipping your periods a few months early, you'll be more likely to successfully skip it when you want to.
