I have been dealing with anxiety for so long, for so incredibly long, it has been about 15 years with it. And each year it gets worse and worse. After a terrible break up I decided it was time to find some counselling (C.B.T), along with some medication. Basically, I feel like it is a constant struggle, I feel like any huge change or incositency will knock me into a spiral depression that always happens after a major change. I have had 2 major episodes and they have lasted 4 to 6 months. I'm scared of a lot of things and I am trying to work hard at this. Sleeping in has become a major challange. It seems like my anxiety has now taken its form in my stomach (#2s, sorry) and never being able to sleep in ever. Even when I have the whole day to myself. I would just like some kind words, some hope, and maybe some prayers. Maybe some relaxation tips? Moreover, I used my old bf as my co dependent crutch for my anxiety and now that he is gone I stand alone and I want to prove to everyone I can do this. I am tired of talking my friends and parents ear off since it has been several months. Thank you for reading.

I understand your problem, since I am going through the same thing as you. I sleep maybe 4hrs a night & wake up with a feeling of terror about how I'm going to get through each day. The only thing that helps right now is to keep as busy as possible to try & divert my mind. I am also seeing a therapist to talk about it-I think it helps because I'm not burdening my family as much with my problems. I also plan on getting on an antidepressant. I used to take effexor & it worked pretty well for me. I know how painful this must be for you. Mental illness stinks & noone can understand unless they've been through it. My advice to you is not to try & fix this yourself. Get professional help & you will feel better again. Hang in there.

i have had anxiety issues since i was 19 I am now 48 Im a male. its tough for guys as we arent suppose to have emotions. I believe its alot to do as how we were brought up. I was always around an over protective mom.
I stayed away from everything for years. Public places/resturants /traveling etc. In 2000 i eneded up in the hospital because i couldnt sleep for 7 days and got whacko. I decided then i needed help. I had taken antidepressants no luck! Then A older doctor put me on Ativan 0.5 mg 3 x a day. I only took 1 a day. Too scared. Now im up to 2-3 a day if needed. Been on them for 3 years, When i first started them I felt great I could do everything. I got over the constant Anxiety feeling and started to battle my phobias. I got married/started to travel/went to public places. etc.
I dont think that meds are the cure but they can take the edge off enough to get you motivated again. they help you to get your life back in motion.
I still find whenever i get too much going on i get really stressed out and edgy and then feel awful, antsocial etc. Then i take a break back off get alot of rest and im okm again. Im a person who burns the candle at both ends and that doesnt help to run yourself down,
Dont focus on your problems as much. Geniune worries can trigger things but try to focus on other things .after awhile it will become normal for your mind. Focusing on your fears and problems builds them to big. Im still trying but doing much better than the last 25 years with no help. Good Luck And God Bless
