Ive always felt quite up and down with my feelings and ive had councelling before, but in the last few months it has become too extreme. I cry all the time, even when ive nothing to be upset about, but when i do have arguements or problems I end up hysterical. I cant think rationally about things and I frequently feel anxious. I now have nightmares nearly every night which makes me feel even worse. This is all effecting my relationship so much he doesnt know what to do, and I end up crying more because im angry with myself for my behavior. I have no explanation of why im like this, I just cant straighten my head out. Is there any kind of medication that can help with my crying and anxiety? Im wary about medication but Ive tried everything else and this has to stop its so destructive.

Hello and welcome to eHealth Forum!

First of all it would be good to get a complete hormone panel done. At times disorders of thyroid gland, diabetes or hormonal imbalance as seen in polycystic disease of the ovary can cause a person to become emotionally disturbed.

Take up yoga, deep breathing exercise, walking and remain strong and determined in your effort to do away with this habit. Music and aerobics are also good stress busters. Drink plenty of fluids and water (not caffeine), eat fresh fruits and vegetables and keep yourself busy throughout the day.

The other method is to go for cognitive behavioral therapy. This helps you to analyze the cause of your anxiety and teaches you to alter your thinking process. Psychodynamic psychotherapy is another option that helps take care of unconscious mental conflicts raging in you.

You need to discuss this with your doctor and get help from a psychiatrist or counselor to overcome this anxiety and emotional distress. Hope this helps. Take care!
