I'm 17, I'm about to start my senior year of high school, and I will be taking classes at the local community college instead of at my high school, and I think I might be pregnant. It wasn't like I schemed or plotted behind his back to get pregnant, to tell the truth I hardly even thought about it, but now that there is a possibility that I might be, the idea of being pregnant is kind of exciting, and I think that if I were, I might even be happy about it, but my boyfriend of 3 years who is about to turn 20 says that he would be devastated if I were. I'm really anxious to find out, and I still have another week and a half before I should get my period, but I'm just wondering how to help him not be so upset and worried when I'm really not so negative about it.

Unplanned pregnancies are often an upheaval in anyone's life. Planned pregnancies can cause the best of men to feel their life is lost.

Men and women view pregnancy and family very differently. Men of 20 have their whole lives to look forward to and don't always relish being 'tied down' with a baby.

My advice to you is that you have your whole life to be an adult. Don't rush into it.

If your period is due in 1 1/2 weeks, you would have 'conceived' about 3 days ago. You went from the possibility of pregnancy and then being excited about it in 3 days?

Planned parenthood gives free testing and they also have free birth control if you are not pregnant.

So I guess excited isn't exactly the right word, its more just that I don't think it would be the end of the world if I were, I'd deal with it. And by saying I might be happy about it, I don't mean immediately, I more meant after a while. Sorry about the poor wording, I was nervous. And thank you for the information. It is much appreciated.
