have you ever had your furry friend dehydrate himself? Peeve didnt drink while i was gone one day and it was hot. he started throwing up. i got gatorade and i got that into him and he is fine now--but what do you all do to deal with this?

Ask your vet if it would be ok to mix a little bit of Gatorade in his dish along with his water, that way even if he only takes a few sips, at least he's getting some extra hydration.

Chicken broth is a good idea, but make sure to get low sodium, too much salt would be counter-preductive and dehydrate her even more.

I tried the chicken broth with her water and she still didn't want to drink it. I just dont understand. We just came back from running a for a short period of time and I tried powerade and no luck! She was sitting down with her tongue sticking out going ha, ha, ha, ha like if she was thirsty. soooo, idk! To me a dog that doesn't drink for a week straight would want to drink right?

yeah youd think----id talk to the vet if you have to you could always get water into her with a syringe---or mix it in her food---that way she eats and drinks at the same time

sounds like you need to call a vet and ask about this. just call the office and tell them to have the vet call you when he has time--i do it all the time--they will call you back(esp if they really care:P)
