dear doctor ,
i hear that the pcr dna hiv test may produce a false negative result if done before 28 days , is this true ?? if then is my 10 day pcr dna negative result non conclusive ?

Hello and thank you for posting your medical question on E health Forum.

The PCR -DNA test is a very accurate test for detecting HIV INFECTION. It detects the presence of the HIV DNA, in the blood. Hence its accuracy is 100%.

The PCR-DNA test gives a positive result within 10-14 days after exposure. Hence it is used in detection of HIV in newborn babies at high risk, so that effective Anti retro viral therapy can be initiated ASAP.

Your test at 10 days is valid and conclusive.

You might consider to consult your doctor for additional counselling.
