I have posted to 2 different forums, and have not gotten any reply's. So I am going to copy it here. SORRY IT'S SO LONG!!!

I have been on birth control for around 2 years now, and on yasmin for the past year. I have been depressed a lot, but until reading what a lot of women on this sight have been saying I had not put the two together....just assumed that I was depressed. My period has always been very regular, and since being on birth control is very light and usually only lasts about 3 to 5 days. Last month I started 4 days before I should have, and my period was much heavier than normal and lasted for 14 days...I was concerned of course, and began to feel very tired and dizzy. I called my doctor and she said that it was nothing to be concerned about and to wait and see what happened the next month. Of course her telling me that it was nothing to worry about didn't make me any less worried! If my period is correspondent with last months (the one that was messed up) will start tomorrow, and if consistent with my normal cycle some time next week. I am concerned as to what could have caused this, even before being on the pill my period was never more than 6 or maybe 7 days at the most. I am 22 years old and have been in a committed relationship for nearly 5 and a half years now, and never been with anyone else. I am just very concerned. I have read that this could be symptoms of a miscarriage, but have not missed any pills. I know that you can still get pregnant on the pill, but it is not very likely. Any advice would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance

I'm sorry to repeat what you've already heard but I think you need to wait and see. (No matter how regular a woman has been in the past, at some time or another she will have an odd period due to hormonal changes. So you could be all upset over nothing.) If the next period lasts too long also it could indicate a hormonal imbalance or other problem. At that point, when you know it's not a one time event, you can have further testing or exams to find out what the problem is.

Dear jowamf,

After you've listening to your doctor saying 'it was nothing to be concern about' and still you are feeling 'not making you less worried' my advise is for you to ask for a second opinion, heavy bleeding for a long period doesn't seems right. Go to a gyne instead of a general practioner and ask she/he to do some test hope this help - Hart74
