I took my daughter to the hospital on Monday for extreme abdominal pain in her lower right abdominal area. The did several test trying to determine the source of the pain. They said her Ultra sound showed some small cysts on her ovaries but this was normal and would not be causing this kind of pain. Blood work, Ct scan and urine test all came back fine. She is experiencing a constant pain in the lower right abdomen with sharp pains that are bearable and bring her to tears. She also has to keep her right leg bent and close to her chest to decrease the pain if she tries to straighten her leg the pain is unbearable. They admitted her to the hospital, did more blood tests, urine test, an CT scan a ultra sound on her gall bladder and still everything came back okay. She was then seen by an OB doctor that said she believed she had Cyst on her ovaries that ruptured. She said once she ate something and could keep a pain pill down she would be able to be released from the hospital. They released her late Tuesday night. It is now Thursday and they pain is still there. She still can not stand upright when she walks she is bent over, she has to have her right leg bent when sitting or laying down, she does not feel like eating, she feel nauseous, dizzy, she still has a constant pain (a level 4 when on pain pills that increase to about a 6 when the pain pills start to wear off) with sharp pains that reach a level of 10 pain.

she continues to have all the same symptoms in addition she has actually vomitted a clear phlemy liquid a couple of times... if she is not doing better tomorrow I'm thinking we may need to return to the hospital... does anyone know if the diagonosis of a ruptured cyst on her ovaries seems acurate or could it possible be something else all together

On Monday January 19th I took my daughter to our family doctor for a follow up, she was still having a high level of pain and walking hunched over. Doctor gave a her a script for Vicaden to help with the pain and told her to take 2 aleve every 12 hours or 3-4 advil every 6 hours. On Wednesday January 21st she returned to school with the assistance of a wheel chair because she was still having alot of pain and walking hunched over. On Friday Jan 23rd she started feeling better. On Saturday she was feeling much better she was able to stand upright when walking and the pain had subsided. Sunday she was without pain again. Today things were still going good until about 6:00pm and she said her stomach was upset. She took some pepto thinking it was just an upset stomach and went to her boyfriends. She then called me about an hour later saying the pain had gotten worse. I told her to take two Aleve and see if that helped. It did not at 8:00 her boyfriend brought her home and the pain had increased to the point it had before and she is walking hunched over again. I now have given her a pain pill and am watching her closely trying to decide if we make a trip back to the hospital or just wait and see if the pain goes away and call the doctor tomorrow.

Well we made the trip back to the hospital and they did more blood tests, urine tests and another CT Scan. This time the said it was indeed appendicitis. So the removed her appendix on Jan 27th at 10:30am. They did a Laparoscopic Appendectomy, kept her overnight then we went home.

Question, you didn't say in your posts....were tests originally done for appendicitus and came back clean? Then, they did another test and said on second thought, yes it's appendicitus?

Thanks, WorriedDad (b1jsph)

From your first post I suspected appendicitis, I'm glad they finally figured it out!

It could still be the pain from the ruptured cyst my 17 year old had the same problem and the only thing that stopped the pain was when her ob/gyn did a laproscopy and flushed her abdominal cavity with a saline solution she said that at times the fluid from the ruptured cyst will aggrevate the abdominal cavity the body usually will absorb the fluid but hers did not.
