Dating a guy who's shy

We've been dating a about 3 months and we've yet to do anything. I'm okay with no sex, I'm a virgin and I'm in no rush to change that(I'm 21 hes 25), actually both of us are. But it's certain other things, he's quiet slow to physical contact period even if it's as simple as a touch. It kills me, I'm trying to be more respectful and keep my distance but inside I'm itching to be more...physical. It doesn't have to be a sexual way (though a makeout session would help as well)but any interaction that makes me feel like we're more then just 2 friends hanging out. Is there anything I can do thats subtle or not that we can move this process along?? I've asked him right out about this once or twice and he keeps saying something about taking things slow. I feel this is a bit TO slow for my comfort, im frustrated >_<.
