Q: Dark underarms

I have been shaving since I was a teen, but I have also noticed that as a young teen I had very dark underarms. I am very athletic, always use deordorant, I am a heavy prespierer. I have to carry deordorant everywhere I go. I started waxing not too long ago. The last time I waxed, which was about 2 weeks ago, I noticed huge dark spots in my underarms and they have been extremely itchy. I have not been wearing deordorant and have been using an itch cream to sooth the pain. Any suggestions how I can remedy the itchiness and the dark areas?
