Hi everyone, I'm 48yrs old and never had children started perimenopause at the age of 38 now my periods like expected come and go. But for the past couple of month I've being getting dark brown periods. I'm also 60 pounds over weight due to steroid shots because of my severe inflammation all over my body, and in April of 2011 I spent 10 days in the hospital with double bronchitis they gave me 22 shots of Solomedrol because I was so congested. So I ask are my dark brown periods normal or what? Can someone answer me please.
If the amount of flow and duration of bleeding also has changed suddenly then it requires an evaluation as it can be due to cervicitis, dysplasia, polyps etc.Considering your age it would be advisable to get a Pap smear test done to rule out any underlying abnormality.
Kindly visit a Gynaecologist for evaluation.
Thank you for your prompt reply. I already had my pap smear test done in May of 2011 and everything came out o.k. I just got done a transvaginal and a ca125 blood test still waiting for results, hopefully everything will come out o.k.
Hi Veltiana ~ I had similar problems along with bleeding for months at a time, My pap's came back ok..I did some research on my own and thought it was fibroid's ...I asked the doctor and she said yes, I had to be put on pill's to stop the bleeding 2 times in the last year so with that being said i am going for a robotic hysterectomy jan 10th and i have never been so happy to think that i won't have to deal with this again..She said she wouldn't take my ovaries unless they are bad but it they are oh well..I have every symptom there is for fibroid's ..If you havn't pulled that up and check out the symptoms you might want to do that. Best of luck to you...
Thanks for your input on this matter. I've just found out last month that I have small fibroid's they are not malignant and because they're small the Dr. said he will continue watching them and if they get bigger then he will remove them. All my other test the CA125 and the transvaginal came out o.k. no cancer. I haven't gotten my period in the last 3 month so hopefully I will start feeling better. Hope everything comes out o.k. with you and may you have a quick recovery.
