Q: Dark brown blood at beginning of period

So I'm notorious for missing/skipping my birth control pills. However, I usually catch up before I start to bleed. About 2 weeks ago, I missed my pills a few days ago in row and I started to have dark brown blood. Immediately, I started taking my pills again and it quit. Now, it is time for me to have my period and again, I have dark brown blood, and nothing else. After two days, there is little to no dark blood at all. What is going on? This has never happened before; usually my periods are bright to a darker red. Should this be a concern?

When you skip the pills you can start to have withdrawal bleeding. If you skip enough it will mess with your cycle.

Ok I am agreeing with susan862003.

My question is I am on the birth control shot. I take it like I am suppose to and I have the dark brown blood each time I have my period. I am also having the issue that my periods are few and far between. I am suppose to take it every three months and this last time I was two months over due for my shot before my period started up again. Then I took my shot as regular and I haven't had a period after that. Any answers to mine would be appreciated. (I also do pregnancy testing before each of my shots)
