I am now 19 weeks 1 day along and my Dr is asking me to have an amino test done to see if the baby has down syndrome. I am 22 years old. My AFP test indicated i was 1:300 risk, high for my age but still negative. During my 3d ultra sound i was told everything looks good except the white spot on the heart and was told to have an amino.. I want it straight, what is the REAL chance of having a baby with D/S they're saying I now doubled my risk being 1:150 less then 1% but... I'm still scared and not sure to take the test. I want to know, but don't want to risk miscarrying @ almost 20 weeks.

I would seek a second opinion for the amnio.
In isolation, an echogenic focus is usually not a means for concern. The risk of fetal death from an amnio is low, but there is still a risk.
We call this echogenic focus a soft marker for Down's. Meaning it is not a GROSS abnormality directly associated with a syndrome or something that would have an effect on the baby. If there are two or more soft markers however, the risk is increased, and then an amnio should be considered. Other soft markers include ventriculomegaly (more water in parts of the brain), pelviectasis (water in kidneys) and a few others.
It also depends on how you feel about it. What would you do if the amnio turned out positive for Down's? Would you abort?
These are all things to consider.
Good luck.
