I would seek a second opinion for the amnio.
In isolation, an echogenic focus is usually not a means for concern. The risk of fetal death from an amnio is low, but there is still a risk.
We call this echogenic focus a soft marker for Down's. Meaning it is not a GROSS abnormality directly associated with a syndrome or something that would have an effect on the baby. If there are two or more soft markers however, the risk is increased, and then an amnio should be considered. Other soft markers include ventriculomegaly (more water in parts of the brain), pelviectasis (water in kidneys) and a few others.
It also depends on how you feel about it. What would you do if the amnio turned out positive for Down's? Would you abort?
These are all things to consider.
Good luck.
