what does spongy uterus mean..

a D&C was stopped stating that the patient had a spongy uterus and would have to return to decide what to do about it.

Welcome to ehealthforum.
Spongy uterus could mean soft uterine walls and attempting a D&C in this case would have had high risk for perforation or tear in uterus hence the D&C was stopped. The patient can be re-examined after 1-2 weeks to see if she is fit for D&C before proceeding ahead. Other causes could be enlarged uterus, pregnant uterus, presence of endometriosis or adenomyosis etc.
