Hi,

Welcome to the ehealthforum. I am glad to help you out. Flutamide is basically an anti-androgen. It works by preventing the binding of the androgens to the target tissues. Presently, it is not approved for use in patients of PCOD. However, doctors frequently use it because of its strong anti-androgenic effect. It is quite effective in patients who have got hirsutism (excessive hair). Any doses > 250 mg increases the toxicity of liver failure. Hence, the liver functions need to monitored regularly. Please do consult an endocrinologist.

I sincerely hope that information helps. Take care.
