i am 16 years old, i have been on birth control for about 3 years now. i have been going through some weird things... at first a few months back i started to have pain in the pelvic area, i thoght i might have been pergnant. I took 4 at home test 3 were negative so i knew that wasnt it. the pain continued, but i kept going... now i am haveing bad pain in the same areas, this time i think that it is on my ovaries, maybe.. i dont know. i usually have a 3 day period. have had 3 day periods since the birth control started.. this past month, i did not start my mensral cycle untill the very last day, ( the last pill for the end of the month pack... about to start the white begining of the month pill) and i bleed very very heavy and the pain in the pelvic area is very hard to deal with. i have done some research on the web md and i have read about the pill and cancer along wiht the pill and cysts... i also have discolored discharge...all month long.. it is sometimes slimy, and the past 2 months my menstral blood has been slimy as well... help please. i am going to go to the doctor soon, i just want to know if this is what i shoukd be asking about or if this is all normal.... im sooo confused and lost, and i am feeling very nausious and... i dont know... im scared... Question

I am not a doctor. As hard as it is, try not to worry too much. Tell the Doctor EVERYTHING (they will see you alone without parent if you like and you should have a nurse present if you do that) and see what they think. Express your concerns and don't let them blow you off. At the very least they should do an ultrasound and a pap to see what is going on in there and to ease your mind. Sometimes the web can be your worst enemy (when you are searching for answers but don't have the diagnosis to search for, you are just guessing by symptoms) and MANY things have over-lapping symptoms. Reading up on it before you know what is going on can drive you nuts and scare you to death. To try to ease your mind I haven't heard of many girls your age having cancer, so it is probably just cysts-hormone related. Talk to your doctor about ALL of your concerns. GO with a list of symptoms written down. Good luck to you.
