Hi
I have been for an ultra scan this morning and they found a cyst on my spleen. I too have a dull pain in my left side under the rib cage, also pain in my shoulder and back left side. I am going to see my doctor this Friday, hopefuly to find out more. I see you posted your email back in January, how are you know?
Kind regards,
Lesley

I have an 8x10cm cyst on my spleen and had no idea! No pains, no aches and no throbbing as most people describe. It is a simple cyst that is very slowly decreasing, as in 2 years ago it was 10x10cm...there is not a lot of literature on this topic as I have come to find out...as long as it is not compromising the size or function of the spleen, they are typically nothing to worry about. Hope this eases you!

I was recently diagnosed with either a complex cyst or small mass from a Cat scan and ultrasound and the size is: 0.8 X 1.0 X 1.1.

My symptoms are left side rib cage pain. Have to retest in 2 months.

cyst on spleen
I had a cyst on my spleen which was growing and causing severe pain when I would lay on either side. I ended up having the cyst removed. I had a partial slpenectomy. The pain is gone and I feel so much better. My surgeon did an amazing job. I guess a partial slpenectomy is not a common surgery.

Splenic cyst
I have a 10cm by 7cm by 8cm splenic cyst causing lots of pain on my left side and leaving me feeling very nauseous. Had a CT scan to find that the cyst has caused my stomach to reduce in size. having a laparoscopic fenestration to resolve this. Anyone had one of these before?

about a year ago i started having lower left back pain. the doctor i went to thought it was kidney stones but couldnt find any so he referred me to a urologist, who ordered a ct scan and found a 9x5 cm cyst on my spleen. i had a biopsy and the liquid was a lime-greenish color. they tested the liquid and found no bacteria, but they cyst grew back to the same size in a matter of weeks. i had it drained again and they injected and alcohol solution to "scar the tissue of the cyst". i felt better for about a month and started having lower back and side pain again. the doctors didnt believe me, and thought it couldnt have grown back but they did another ct scan and found it again. so i had to go to a surgeon and he lapascopically removed a portion of the cyst. after 4 months i now have the same pain again in my lower back. does anyone know what causes cysts on the spleen?

Splenic cyst
I had a 15 cm x 12 cm splenic cyst discovered on a CT scan. It was an incidental finding after being diagnosed with mono at age 42. These true splenic cysts are quite rare, so the protocol seems to be splenectomy. I have been determined to keep my spleen. The surgeon first attempted cyst drainage via I intercostal catheter to splenic cyst (painful) which did not resolve or slow fluid production. Four weeks later sclerosing was attempted with bleomycin unsuccessfully. Three weeks later laparoscopic cyst decapsulation and omentum packing in the cavity was performed with wonderful recovery. I was assued I had nothing to worry about b/c situation was resolved. Two months later I had severe upper left abdominal pain and went to the ER where a CT scan revealed a 7.5 x 8 cm splenic regrowth. I have been searching and hoping for natural methods to shrink the cyst (and other noted smaller cysts) so that I can avoid splenectomy. Any ideas?

Dear jcl,
Did you ever find another method to shrink the cysts on spleen? Every surgeon I have been to visit only suggests a splenectomy but I fighting to not go down this route. Any more info would be great.
thanks,
BB

Splenic Cysts and Parasites
Most often - the cause is parasites. Here is a decent article: http://ar.iiarjournals.org/content/25/1B/5 15.full.pdf

I was just diagnosed with one as well and am deciding what to do. Is a natural parasite cleanse helpful? I am looking into it. What ever happened to you?

A couple of years ago I had a cyst on my spleen. I was active in sports but didn't know of any time when trauma may have caused the injury. The pain was especially felt in my left shoulder but began hurting in the upper left side (front and back) of my abdomen. I initially thought the pain in my shoulder was a badly pinched nerve or my back being out of alignment, but it was actually the spleen sending pain signals through the nerve that runs from the diaphragm up to the shoulder (known as referred pain). It was painful to lean back in a chair, to lay down, to breathe deeply, and sometimes movements in general (like the vibrations caused from walking).

The pain and discomfort got to the point that I eventually went to the emergency room. They did a CAT scan and found a large cyst on my spleen. Soon after they did a peculation to drain the cyst and see if that resolved it. They drained a liter of fluid out of the cyst! It was mostly comprised of old blood (no cancer or anything). Unfortunately, the cyst came back and they had to result to surgery. Initially my doctor thought he was going to have to remove the spleen, but he decided to call around for second opinions (thank you doc!). He found an alternative solution and ended up doing a laparoscopic procedure that removed the cyst and then he burned the surface of the spleen to try and prevent it from coming back. It worked. I still have my spleen today.

Hi everbody. My mother, age of 62, has a 8 cm diameter splenic cyst. She had 8 surgeries from other illnesses when she was young and the doctors say that having a surgical operation for the splenic cyst will be very risky. Anybody found a method to shrink the cysts on spleen?
