The presentation of liver enlargement depends on the underlying cause or illness causing it. Some âgeneral some symptoms of liver disease include nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, indigestion, âchange in stools, jaundice, itching, etc. â
In severe conditions with greater liver dysfunction abdominal distension, swelling of the legs, âanorexia, lethargy could be evident. â
In cases of infections in the liver, fever, abdominal pain, and discomfort could be present. â
Your mother might need to be evaluated with blood tests to âcheck the function of the kidney, liver, complete blood counts, and tumor markers like AFP, etc. In addition a CT scan of the abdomen may be helpful for evaluation.
The treatment of the condition varies and depends on the definitive diagnosis which cannot be made âdue to the lack of a complete medical history and physical examination findings. â
