I have just found out that I have a couple of cyst in my breast with nodules. In addition I have found out that I have a adenomas on both adrenal glands, plus a ovarian cyst. Is it normal to have things popping up all over?

I'd say that the cysts, fluid-filled lumps, are an indicator of some underlying cause. Have you sought a unifying diagnosis that would make sense of all of these symptoms. There's probably a reason why they are appearing at once ... and you'll need to look into it seriously.

I found out that I had the tumor on one adrenal gland and the ovarian cyst when I had a ct scan because of my gallbladder. I had my gallbladder removed as planned. The surgeon told me what they found on the ct scan. I had a follow up ct scan to check on the adrenal gland 2 months after the inital exam and found out that another adenoma has started to grow on the other adrenal gland. The surgeon scheduled me for a mammogram since my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at 42 and I am 38 now. Then that showed an area of concern, so then came the breast sonogram and the pelvic sonogram. The ovarian cyst went from 2.1 to 3.8 in 2 months. I have an appointment to see the surgeon Oct. 8. I am hoping that he will be able to tell me something. I am hoping that he isn't going to take the wait and see approach on everything.

I agree. You'll need someone to help you piece together all of these exam results. Please update and let me know what the doctor says on the 8th. I hope that you get a diagnosis that makes sense of all of these individual events!

Well went to the doctor and he said that he thinks that the breast cysts are benign, but he wants to recheck in 6 months to be sure. But he did order some testing on the adrenal glands which is blood work and urine testing. Plus I have an appointment with the gynocologist to check the cyst on my ovary. The doctor said that the cyst needs to be removed off the ovary. I go see the gyno on October 25 and back to the surgeon on the October 27 to find out the results of the adrenal testing. I asked the surgeon why everything seems to be growing, and he said that he thinks it is due to my hormones running wild. HMMM not to sure that could be causing all these problems! I will wait to see what the test results show for the adrenal and what the gyno says, because I am going to ask her if my hormones can be causing all these problems or not. To me it doesn't seem feasible.

Sounds like you're getting closer and have a diagnostic plan. I'm sure that you're relieved at least in taking the steps and going through the process. Good for you! I'm interested to see what kind of surgery is recommended for removing the ovarian cysts, recovery time, etc. Do you have someone there with you who's going to be able to go with you for surgery? Any support?

Unfortunately my parents live in another state about 12 hours away. Plus my mom has terminal cancer and is unable to travel and I don't want to upset her, so I haven't really told her much yet. I do have a husband, but he is afraid of all this and doesn't even want to talk about my issues and everytime I try to talk to him he says he doesn't even want to think about it and gets all teary eyed. He just says the doctors will find out what is wrong and take care of it and that everything will be fine. My husband will go with me for surgery, but will have to leave in time to pick up our 7 year old from school. So I am hoping that it will be an outpatient surgery and be scheduled early in the morning so that way we will be home by the time school lets out. I guess I will know on Monday about recovery time and how they plan to do it.

Maybe you can also ask a friend for support and help. Is there anyone you trust to take care of your son so that your husband can stay with you?

Well I went to the obgyn and I am scheduled to have surgery on Nov 7 if all goes well it will be an outpatient surgery done lapo. They also had me take a blood test CA-125 test. They are going to take out my ovary along with the cyst and they are going to do a D & C at the same time and last but not least they are going to burn the inside of my uterus so nothing (tumors or cysts or fibroids can grow). They are advising me to go on breast cancer prevention medication due to cancer running in the family. Now I just have to wait until Wednesday this week to get the results of the blood work on my adrenal gland.

We don't have anybody that could pick up our son but us since we have only lived here for a year, we moved from out of state.

Well I had my cyst and left ovary removed, she also found a cyst on the right ovary that wasn't there a month ago which she also removed. She also told me that my uterus is almost completely turned sideways. I will also need to have a hysterectomy soon probably in about 6 months. I have to go back to see her on the 25th for follow up. I have an appointment on the 19th to see the adrenal gland doctor to see what needs to be done. my test results came back on the adrenal glands and my aldosterone levels are high. I am hoping that there are meds I can take to help with that because I am not looking forward to being cut on again any time soon.

I went to the adrenal gland doctor today and he is taking the wait and see approach on the adrenal glands. He wants me to do another ct scan in 3 months to see if the tumors are still the same size or growing. He said that if they are bigger in 3 months that he will need to see about taking them out. But for right now he said to try not to worry about them and to enjoy the Holidays. Will find out my ovarian results on the 25th. I am healing pretty good. I only needed to take the pain pills for the first 4 days and since then I haven't been taking anything. Crossing my fingers for all test to be normal.

Will say extra prayers for you. You have been through a great deal. I do wish I lived near you. I would either go with you to hold your hand for support, or take care of your son for you while your husband could go and stay with you. YOu are gonna be just fine. Was sorry to hear of your Mother. God bless you and your family............always here if you need me! FGM

Sorry to hear about the whole ordeal, especially about the your mother. Sad And the hysterectomy. My best friend's mum had to have one recently.

But I like this ready approach you're taking to all your other symptoms. It keeps you safer from risks, and I really don't think you have much to worry about with the cancer and all. One of my friends' mother has had a tumor in her for a couple years now (doctors waiting for it to grow) and she's been doing fine.

You should really have your husband to stay with you, I'm sure your neighbour or someone wouldn't mind picking up your son at all. You need your husband to stay by your side, even if he says he doesn't want to think about it.

Hope you enjoy your holidays anyway, and do let us know! Very Happy

Ginger --- I found some information about adrenal gland removal for you to look over. It outlines the Laparoscopic Adrenal Gland Removal procedure so that you can be mentally aware of what happens. Give it a read now, or wait until later. Smile http://www.sages.org/publications/publicat ion.php?id=PI14

I also found this article on eating and nutrition to support your adrenal glands.

I wish you health and happiness, Gingergin! Please let us know if there's anything we can do to help!!!

Thanks
Thank you for all of your support. Thank you for the information that you provided. The one problem is eating. I work rotating shifts and it is not possible for me to eat on a schedule. Sometimes I have 8 hours between shifts, so it's just enough time to come home and grab some much needed sleep. But I have another 2 weeks home before I can return to work, so I am going to try it while I can. I am going back for a surgical follow up in a couple of days. But the endocrinologist said that he wants me to get a thyroid check, and that he will send a report back to my surgeon and his notes about the thyroid gland. I was talking to my parents and found out that my dad and all of his family have had thyroid problems and they are all on thyroid medications. So I am wondering if this could have anything to do with me being tired all the time. I know that my work schedule contributes to my tiredness, but i have often worked 2 jobs and now I only work one, but am exhausted even after just waking up in the morning. Maybe they will find everything wrong and after everything is fixed I will feel like superworman. HA HA. I will let you know what I find out on the 25th. And once again thank all of you for your support and a shoulder to lean on.
