I have Mirena and it does not GET RID of your period. It makes them lighter. It CAN make it go away but that is not the purpose of it. If you want to get RID of your periods go on the shot.

I had Mirena insterted a month shy of two years ago. At first my periods were normal then they started heavy for a day then trailed off. Eventually they became very light and a few months ago they did completely stop.
