I am 24 years old. Over 2 months ago I was diagnosed with CTS. 2 of my fingers are numb, I have no strength in my hand at all, and almost constant wrist pain. The doctor said to wear my brace 24/7 unti the numbness goes away and my hand returns to normal. I have had the brace on since Dec. 16 and so far no improvement what-so-ever! Is my doctor stupid? Should I be taking other actions? I am going crazy!!!

Each doctor has a different approach on CT...I assume this is true because each patient is different...I wear my brace only when I need it....I don't want to lose the strength in my wrist and found that by wearing it too much this happened...If it throbs me too much in the middle of the night, I will reach under my pillow and pull it on......I have two braces and keep one under my pillow...Last night it bothered me a bit so I cupped the wrist in my other hand and laid on my side...The pain stopped and I went to sleep...I find that by experimenting with myself and my body that this has helped me more than anything...

I only type when my hands are above the typing panel...I found that with my hand raised to the upper most part of the desk that this is a strain on my hand and wrist...The correct way to type is with the pull out panel and hands above the panel...I never use the mouse on the computer top desk surface...It is always on the pull out panel...

I am only giving you some thoughts on what I do...They may not be right for everyone but they sure have helped me....Hope they help you too...

The wearing of splints 24/7 can decrease the overall strength in your wrist, the person who gave you the splints must surely know this. Maybe it's time for you to ask to see a specialist, or how about asking for an x-ray?
If you are still unhappy is there another doctor you can have an appointment with?

I realise this is quite a delay, but this is good for general joint health. Take Glucosamine, Condroitine, & MSM daily - you can pick them up at a number of places, but I use either DoctorsTrust.com or Puritan's Pride. Either are good, just look for a sales (buy 2 get 3 free, etc.) & look up coupon codes.

I actually came here on accident looking for something else, but hope that helps.
